I have purchased two vehicles from this dealer. First was a used 2018 Yukon SLT and the other was a new 2021 Canyon AT4. Both times my sales experience was typical of a busy dealership. Everyone was polite and courteous and went above to get me in the vehicle that day, although it took some time, in there defense, it was very busy. I have never used the dealership for services but plan to for our first required service.
I will mention this though. On my Canyon AT4 they completed a lift kit, tires, rims, step rails, tint, and a few other minor things. They were able to provide what they added but could not come up with a price to go with what they installed. I knowingly and willingly paid more than I should have. I priced everything added to the vehicle to include labor rates at the place it was installed. I favored on the high side and struggled to come up with just over half of what I was charged. Another bummer is I did not receive the original tires, rims, and suspension. I did pay for that and it was indicated on the MSRP sheet. I do not know if this is typical of all dealers but I should be able to sell what I already purchased to offset cost or it should have been deducted from the upgrades added.
I absolutely love the look of the vehicle but could have done this same thing for half the cost and kept my ordinally purchased tires, rimes, and suspension. My fault completely, I do not fault the dealership. If you purchase a vehicle that is dealer modified, check the prices to purchase those item's yourself.
Items added to vehicle was a 4" Rough Country suspension lift (1100$), KMC 18" Rims (Recons) (1260$) with BF Goodrich tires (33" x 12.5) (1300$), Westin HDX Step rail (580$)s, Tint (499$). Lojack was also included at (800$). I then added (800$) install lift with (100$) alignment. Mount and balance I went overboard at (100$). I even added (200$) to put on step rails. I paid considerably more than what is listed above. Just be aware and willing to accept the considerable mark up. One benefit is everything is warranted by the dealership, so they said!? Should have got that in writing.
Overall the sales staff was great, I knew I was paying to much and should have walked. I may have got a better deal.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - James B.SoMa, San Francisco, CA02Mar 4, 2024
I had my vehicle in service for a full diagnostic in January. They didn't find anything wrong with it and said they just cleared codes. I started having issues as soon as I picked vehicle up and I informed them of the issues. I will not put my advisor's name in here because that person did all they could. The time before that, they took the cover off my engine and never replaced it. I mentioned it to them and they said one didn't come with vehicle and I told them there was one of there when I bought vehicle in for service. They refused to replace it.
The issue I am having now was not detected during the visit in January even though they did a full diagnostic. Now all of a sudden, I have all of these issues once my warranty is up. I have called and left several messages for Andrew in service, not sure what is position is and have also left several messages for Gary Burton. I have yet to get a return call to address my other issues. They are so big on trying to sell vehicles but are lacking in taking care of issues with customers. I am not sure why my location is showing Cali, but I am in Temple, TX.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Krista W.Nashville, TN1462228Jul 3, 2023
Taylor along with the whole crew from Parts, to Jaleen and the customer service representatives inside, to the driver John who drove me home so I didn't have to wait hours in the lobby for my vehicle to be finished -- EXCELLENT service that was above and beyond. My fiancé and I wish we bought our truck here. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND this GMC for anyone seeking a solid experience!

We recently had a great experience purchasing a used Chevy Tahoe at Garlyn Shelton Buick GMC. We especially loved our sales guy JD! He was knowledgeable, personable, and just made the whole experience fun. Any problem we encountered, he was very responsive and quick to work out a plan to get it fixed. We have been really impressed with the integrity of this dealership/company - everything they promised was delivered on and everyone has really gone the extra mile to provide us with the best possible vehicle, even after the sale was completed. I usually hate the whole car buying process, but this was by far the easiest and most pleasant experience I've ever had. Thank You!

Had issues with promises during purchasing, and a runaround nightmare. But really liked the car and wants my gf to be happy. The guy I bought the car from doesn't even work there 2 weeks later. He had told me they would fix my windshield, get the door code, and look at why the trans felt like it was stuttering at low speeds. Now they tell me they aren't doing anything with it, buyer beware. Sleezy dealership, aren't professional at all, will lie to your face to get a sale, don't bother spending your money or listening to their promises. Never again!

Buyer beware. Garlyn Shelton GMC has very shady business practices. We ordered a Yukon in March 2022. Matt initially promised a 6 month turnaround, which turned into a full year. Imagine waiting a full year and being excited to finally get your vehicle. When the SUV came in, we were told that they now charge addendums and would no longer give us the special pricing we were promised. Of course, we said I don't think so and were discussing it. We found out today that they sold it to another buyer because they offered to pay $10k above sticker price. They could make more money off of them so we didn't matter. For real? The dealership hasn't even refunded our initial deposit. Thanks Ernesto!! Worst experience. Go to Covert in Austin or Richard Karr in Waco. At least they stick to their word when you order a unit.
If you are a female, don't expect communication from this place. We asked Matt to make me the point of contact. Whew. My husband was told that my phone and e-mail didn't work. Our salesman refused to call me until it was to mess with me. (We were going to buy a Denali that someone backed out of, submitted the paperwork and he called to tell me they sold it). Through all the drama, we asked to switch sales people. We got JD. Even worse, he said my information wasn't even on the system. It's funny GMC could see it and when I just called, miraculously it was all there. Through it all, JD and Ernest both called and apologized to my husband for the other crap they put us through but would never call me. I decided to call today for an answer and Ernesto is too busy. I asked for a callback but never heard back.
I don't know if its horrible business practice or just too money hungry to care but seriously go somewhere else and save the heartache.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Blind W.Austin Ave., Waco, TX03Nov 22, 2022
Stay far away!!
Ordered a new GMC Yukon XL w/ the Duramax engine back in April.
Put down a large down-payment hoping to speed up the process. The first 'sales advisor' quit and no one from the dealership thought it was a good idea to let me know. The only way to get info from them was to physically stop in and speak to someone.
"We moved you up to priority one" what ever that means.
Long story short, we cancelled the order and went to Glenn Polk in Gainesville where they had one in stock which we purchased.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - M H.San Francisco, CA01Nov 24, 2023
Worst buying experience EVER!! The lack of communication in this place is beyond low. We live in Austin area and decided to head out to this location for a "better" experience and instead had the worst experience, The salesman, GARY, acted like he was doing us a favor. He was rude, made a racist comment about his Puerto Rican employee, not knowing I was Puerto Rican. Insulated us, by assuming something completely opposite about us in purchasing our vehicle. Told us he was the only person there to sale Cadillacs, so we could not go to any other person, when we asked about going to another sales person. Once the sale was done, we waited 4 months for our vehicle with absolutely NO communication, until we called upset. Fast forward, 8 months later, my son seen a used vehicle that this location had. (He had been looking for a particular vehicle that he could not find anywhere until this location) so we decided to give them a second chance, Sales was great!! But then we needed to repair something in the car. We bring the car in, was told one day if easy two days depending on how big the repair would be. My son's car sat for a complete month with nothing being done to it, HORRIBLE communication, then came back with the car could not get fixed because turned out it was a bigger project and supposedly our insurance did not cover it. We were given two options, one of them being to return the vehicle. The following day my husband received a text, there found out the vehicle was never put thru to the insurance, so it could be covered, at this point we said never mind (don't want another whole month to go by without the vehicle). We picked up the car and taking else were. And he we were, thinking of going back to buy another car.....NOT. Oh and there is no numbers to any General manager or higher, you have to send an email to wait AGAIN for someone to contact you, only to get have someone promising to take care of it, and nothing honestly gets done. BEYOND DISAPPOINTED. Don't waste your time in my opinion.

This is one of the best car dealerships to go to, I have got all three of my cars from here and each time was always better than the last. 10/10 would recommend anybody to get their car from here. Great service and amazing people.
