Event Description:
On February 11, 2017, Temple Literacy Council will sponsor our annual Fun and Fund Raiser. The “Literacy Love Bear Fest” will combine educational outreach, entertainment, and fund raising at an event co-hosted by the Czech Heritage Museum and Teddy Bear Bakery on the corner of Third and French Streets in Temple. The public is invited to the come-and-go event from 3-6 that afternoon at the museum. Attendees will be educated through a “Legacy of Literacy” tour through the museum and Temple Literacy Council awareness displays in the gallery. Refreshments and entertaining bear story readings will be ongoing through the afternoon featuring many local favorite personalities including “Chef Teddy Bear” himself, Kirk Lammert, owner of the Teddy Bear Bakery. Our fund raiser will please those last minute Valentine's Day shoppers with a raffle of fun items with 12-for-$10 tickets and a silent auction for more valuable gift baskets and merchandise donations. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call or email: 254-774-7323 / templeliteracy@juno.com

EVENT SPONSORS
Temple Literacy Council
The Temple Literacy Council (TLC) has served the Temple community since 1988 with a purpose to reach adult learners who want to learn to read or improve their literacy skills. TLC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose funding is through donations of money and time by generous local individuals, organizations, and businesses. The organization is not funded by any state or federal agencies. The TLC serves the area with a team of skilled volunteer tutors who provide one-on-one or small group sessions. Our tutors are trained in the Laubach Literacy method, a tested and proven system of instruction in phonetic reading. In order to provide curriculum for our students, training and materials for our tutors, and facilitate the administrative process of keeping an office space at the Temple Public Library, funds are necessary. Thank you for your support.
